Terms of Service

Last updated August 2026

These terms cover your use of CodeFrens, a free service that pairs you with a random partner to solve a coding problem together. By using the site you agree to them.

1. The service

CodeFrens creates a shared room containing a coding problem, a shared code editor and a chat box. Rooms are matched at random. No account is required — you pick a nickname or appear as “stranger”.

The service is provided free of charge, as-is, and may change, break or be discontinued at any time without notice.

2. You are sharing a room with a stranger

Anything you type into the editor or the chat is visible in real time to the person you are matched with. Do not paste passwords, API keys, private source code, personal information or anything else you would not show to an unknown person.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use CodeFrens to:

  • harass, threaten, sexualise or abuse the person you are paired with;
  • send spam, advertising, scams, phishing links or malware;
  • share sexual content involving minors, or content that is illegal where you are;
  • post content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights;
  • attempt to attack, overload, scrape at scale or gain unauthorised access to the service;
  • impersonate another person in your nickname or chat.

Code you write runs in your own browser. Do not attempt to use the runner to attack other systems or to circumvent your browser's security model.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the code and messages you write. By typing in a shared room you allow us to store and transmit that content so the session can work for both participants.

The coding problems, site design and code of CodeFrens itself belong to the operator and may not be republished as your own product.

5. Enforcement

We may end a session, block access or remove content at any time if we believe these terms have been broken. Report abuse to legal@codefrens.app or via the contact page.

6. No warranty and limited liability

CodeFrens is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that a partner will be available, that sessions or code will be preserved, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or for the conduct or content of other users.

7. Age

The service is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Because rooms pair strangers, minors should not use it without a guardian's supervision.

8. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the new version. Questions: legal@codefrens.app.
